'Miss Universe 2011': And The Winner Is...African

It is estimated that over 1 billion people watched the Miss Universe 2011 pageant crown it's first African winner in over thirteen years. Miss Angola, Leila Lopes, is from the western city Benguela where the main language is Portuguese. Benguela was a port city vital to the slave trade in the 17th century. Today Miss Angola, Leila Lopes, 25 years old, has been crowned queen of the pageant. The pageant was co-hosted by Andy Cohen of Bravo TV, "Watch What Happens:Live" and NBC "Today Show" news anchor, Natalie Morales. There were several judges, most notably, Vivica Fox and Adrienne Maloof, from Bravo's "The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills". Leila Lopes gave one of the best answers to a very difficult question. The question asked what physical trait she would change and why? The very attractive Miss Lopes answered with, " Thank God I'm very satisfied with the way God created me and I wouldn't change a thing." Winner! Now that is winning.

'Dr. Oz': Ovarian Cancer Scare

Dr. Oz dedicated this show to making women aware of the misdiagnosis of Ovarian Cancer. He started off by showcasing several families affected by ovarian cancer misdiagnosis. Dr. Oz set up a moving screening clinic in a mall. Women were invited to come down and fill out a vital one sheet then get an ultrasound. The subject is important to Dr. Oz because of the high number of misdiagnosed symptoms. It was mentioned that doctors have always been taught that there are NO symptoms to ovarian cancer. This incorrect teaching has lead to many problems. Over thirty percent of women received prescriptions for causes other than ovarian cancer when the symptoms are directly related to ovarian cancer. Doctors have misdiagnosed this disease. In this clip, the doctors screened one woman who just lost her mother to ovarian cancer and they found a large cyst.

America's Got Talent': Landau Blows Them Away

It's down to the Top Four and tonight was Landau Eugene Murphy, Jr.'s night.
The velvet crooner went big and performed the seminal Frank Sinatra song, "I Did It My Way". Landau so outperformed the song the he received the first standing ovation of the night. Piers said, " You took Sinatra's, your great hero, you took his biggest song, the song that many try and sing, most of us get it hopelessly wrong, you sang that absolutely from your heart..." He went on to say "That is the marker, that is the million dollar song right now."

'The Wendy Williams Show': Death Threat from Terrence Howard

What would set you off to the point that you would call someone and leave a message threatening his or her life? Well Terrence Howard found the answer to that question. According to Wendy Williams are her "Hot Topics" the newly wed Terrence Howard thought someone was making moves on his wife. The alleged other man was calling Terrence's wife and leaving voicemails. Terrence decided to call the other man and leave his own message for the man. The expletive laced message had a very even tone almost to the point of being morose. The message was:
"If you call my wife again I'm going to come to your house and I'm going to cut your f***ing throat...Understand that. I'm gonna tell you this one time. You call my wife again, I'm going to kill you."

The most unfortunate part of this is that Terrence left the message for the wrong person. The story is convoluted but suffice it to be that Terence had to call again and apologize. I agree with Wendy, celebrities should never leave messages or text people unless they understand that the message will be heard by the world.

Wendy gave one of her strangest interviews when Mehcad Brooks came to the stage. Wendy hyped up the interview by emphasizing the attractiveness of Mehcad. Once Mehcad hit the couch, Wendy drooled during one of her first questions. She was embarrassed but Mehcad helped her play it off. Later in the interview she drank from her trusty cup and started choking. The camera stayed on Mehcad while she coughed and tried to pull it together. She apologized for that as well. He played it all cool pretending not to notice and giving her moral support all at the same time. What a nice guy. He also revealed the shocking story about his car accident during the season.

Kevin came strolling into the hotel sanctuary. If you don't remember, Kevin talked alot of smack about how Toccara couldn't be his lady because she couldn't make up her mind about the white alliance guys. She did dismiss them but Kevin though she was weak. Toccara chased him, not to get him to return but to give a piece of her mind. Kevin voluntarily walked off the show and out of Toccara's heart. This time Kevin flew half way around the world to apologize and try to sweep her off her feet. Tocarra seemed to be buying it for a while. The other guys were mostly upset thinking he left and he should stay gone. In the deliberation room, Toccarra addressed the issue by saying that Kevin left the first time because of his principles and now Tocarra is eliminating him based on her principles. 'The Dr. Phil Show' : Ted Williams I Lied

Ted "The Golden Voice" Williams made his return to the Dr. Phil show to make amends for all the numerous lies he told when he was last on the show. We all remember Ted, the homeless crack addict with the gravitas voice of velvet. His smooth, mellow tone made women swoon and others want to buy what he was selling. After his rescue from the streets and the media blitz that had him going from show to show, it was rumored that he was back on drugs. Dr. Phil invited him on the show for the purpose of trying to sent him to rehab before the whirlwind of fame destroyed him again. During the show, Ted's family accused Ted of drinking, smoking crack, and physically attacking his daughter. Ted vehemently denied all those charges in front of Dr. Phil. Dr. Phil didn't believe him and still tried to get him help. After one failed attempt at sobriety, Ted returned to the clinic and is now cleaned. He came to clear the air, apologize and make true amends.

'Planet Rock the Story of Hip Hop The Crack Generation': Drug Policy

Planet Rock the Story of Hip Hop: The Crack Generationfocused on every aspect of how hip-hop and crack ran in the same circles. Washington D.C. took notice of the crack generation in the eighties. Ronald Reagan and the Congress, both Democrats and Republicans banded together to make Crack cocaine more villainous than it's white powder counterpart. It was a veiled attempt by "Washington" to punish and start a war against Black people in the urban areas. People who wanted access to cheap drugs, used crack. Even though white people used crack, Black people mostly used it and Washington made a concerted effort to demonize that drug over any other drug. Laws were passed to give users and dealers penalties that were 100 times harsher than powder cocaine.

Shanuie mentioned that she has been trying to add more variety to the shows but it is difficult because there are not very many white basketball wives. The questioning turned to the ugly subject of the fights. Wendy mentioned that the fighting embarrasses her and she feels guilty watching them. Shaunie surprisingly said that she was not a fan of all the fighting but none of it is staged. This is reality according to Shaunie. Moreover, she feels that the show is a reflection of women we all know in real life and not out of character with the rest of the world.

'Planet Rock the Story of Hip Hop The Crack Generation': The BATTERAM

This documentary chronicles the parallel rise of Hip Hop and Crack. Hip Hop was influenced by what was happening on the streets and in the mid-eighties it was all about crack. The infamous Los Angeles Police Chief, Darryl Gates introduced a new weapon in the "War on Drugs', the BATTERAM. The Batteram was a modified tank with a long battering tool, a ram, which crushed houses and lives at the same time all in the name of justice. Darryl Gates' Batteram helped to cement him in Hip-Hop history and in the black community as an overbearing force for destruction. "Crack cocaine was used as an excuse to militarize the police force", according to Dr. Todd Boyd, Professor at USC. Nancy Reagan was a part of the publicity campaign used to advertise the Batteram. The streets reacted in their own way against the police tactics. Ice T had a lot to say about the police and it was around that time he quit his hustle and jumped into the Hip-Hop world.
