Michael Vick might be back. After being named starting quarterback for the Philadelphia Eagles, Vick played with a vengeance. This weekend against the Jacksonville Jaquars, Vick threw for three touchdowns and ran for a fourth in a 28-3 victory for the Eagles. He was 17 - 31 in passing for 291 yards. While it's easy to celebrate Michael Vick's most recent victory as a coming out party for the embattled superstar, we can't move on that assumption so fast. The Jaquars are not a very good team, with a 1 - 2 record, and one quarterback after another has mutilated their weak defense. Vick's test will come later in the season, when he plays teams with a better record.
What can't be forgotten about Vick, though, is that he was once the greatest player in the entire NFL. His face was on the cover of magazines and video games, and he was the toast of the league. I expect that finding success the second time around will lead to Vick appreciating it that much more. I also hope that he's humbled himself enough to stay on top.
