Hurricane Earl might be headed towards the Northeast, but that won't stop ten of the country's leading African-American comics, including Mike Epps, D.L. Hughley and Sommore, will take part in the Atlantic City Comedy Festival this labor day weekend.
This marks the first year for two-day festival, which takes places Sept.3 and Sept.4 at the Historic Boardwalk Hall, but festival organizers are hoping to make it an annual event.On Friday night, Don "DC" Curry, Earthquake, Mike Epps, Mario Tory and George Wilborn will share their side-splitting jokes and on Saturday night Gary Owens, Bruce Bruce, D.L. Hughley, Sommore and TuRae will take the stage to tell their jokes.
"In an effort to continue to marry the worlds of comedy with some of the country's most sought after and desired travel destinations, Atlantic City became the perfect place for this union to take place," Atlantic City Comedy Festival organizers told the BV Newswire.
"And what works better than to bring people from far and wide to Atlantic City for a great holiday weekend to hear some of the greatest comedians out on the circuit today, in one of the greatest resort cities the country has to offer. People get to laugh and let their hair down all at the same time."
The new comedy festival is being spearheaded by the same people who put on The Royal Comedy Tour and the Big Easy Comedy Festival, which takes place over Memorial Day Weekend in New Orleans.
