'The Talk': Iman: Mother Bought My Education

Iman is from Somalia, where education was free for the boys. Iman's mother sold all her jewelry to send Iman to the best private schools for her education. Iman mentioned how girls in Somalia have low self-esteem partly because of the culture. In Somalia girls are treated differently from the boys. Iman fortunately had a thirst for knowledge and her parents paid for her to attend school. But according to Iman girls in America have low self-esteem as well. Iman willingly admitted that she is part of an industry that feeds unrealistic images to women. Iman tries not to fit into that pattern with her company. Iman was questioned about admitting she was an ugly duckling growing up. Iman defended the statement and reported how her father paid her cousin to take Iman to her high school prom.
