Rapper Bow Wow stars in the new film 'Lottery Ticket,' which opens on Aug. 20.In the film, the 23-year-old hip-hop star works at a Foot Locker store and his character's adoration of sneakers parallels Bow Wow's real life fascination with them.
When BV Buzz spoke to the one-time Jermaine Dupri-protégé during an interview at the Four Seasons Los Angeles at Beverly Hills recently, Bow Wow disclosed that he came very close to launching his own sneaker line.
"I was approached about doing a sneaker. I was actually going open my own sneaker store in Atlanta. It fell through and I glad it did," he admitted. "This is what I do! I don't really know how to sell shoes; I'm just a fan of them. I didn't want to invest too much of my money and then lose out. I just didn't want to do it."
The 'Fresh Azimiz' rapper, who has also starred in films like 'Like Mike,' 'Roll Bounce' and 'Johnson Family Vacation,' was slated to partner with an NBA star on the sneaker venture.
"It was actually a deal with Stephon Marbury," he shared. "But once I saw he went crazy, I was like, 'Whoa, let me back up out of this real quick.' I backed out! I don't know if this is the good thing to do. I went on ahead and backed out early and saved face. So it's all good!"
Bow Wow stars next in the Tyler Perry film 'Madea's Big Happy Family.'
