Antonique Smith, known for her highly praised portrayal of Faith Evans in the 2009 hit bio-drama 'Notorious,' has joined the cast of the upcoming action-thriller 'Abduction.'
The film, directed by John Singleton, stars 'Twilight's Taylor Lautner, Alfred Molina, Sigourney Weaver, Maria Bello and Jason Isaacs.
The Lionsgate thriller is centered around a young man (played by Lautner), who after seeing his baby picture on a missing children's website sets out to uncover the truth about his life.
Smith plays the role of CIA agent Sandra Burns, loyal partner of Frank Burton (played by Molina) who seek out to protect Lautner as he gets closer to the truth.
Smith, first garnered attention in her buzz worthy leading role in 'Rent' on Broadway as Mimi Marquez, where director Michael Greif is quoted as saying Antonique "made the whole show better". In addition to her upcoming role in 'Abduction,' Smith stars alongside Gabourey Sidibe, Zoe Kravitz and Tim Blake Nelson in the highly anticipated 2011 independent film 'Yelling To The Sky,' directed by Victoria Mahoney.
