She's been making headlines over the past few weeks for her Elle Magazine cover, and now 'Precious' star Gabourey Sidibe has another reason to be in good spirits about her professional career.
Showtime just announced that they would renew the Academy Award nominated actress' new comedy 'The Big C' for a second season.
According to the network, "record-breaking premiere night ratings" inspired Showtime to renew 'The Big C' and 'Weeds' so quickly into their current seasons.
"There are definitely more comedic adventures in store for these fascinating, complex women, " Showtime president of entertainment David Nevins said in a statement.
On 'The Big C' Sidibe plays a recurring character named Andrea, who is a high school student in Cathy's (Linney) class.
The new seasons of both 'The Big C' and 'Weeds' will air in 2011.
As previously reported, the New York native has already wrapped the Sundance Lab film 'Yelling to the Sky' with Zoe Kravitz, in which she plays a bully.
