A former gal pal of boxing icon Floyd Mayweather, Jr. is claiming that she was assaulted by him Thursday morning at her Las Vegas home.
Las Vegas police confirmed that Mayweather Jr. is a suspect in the domestic violence complaint and they are looking to question him. The undefeated champ left his girlfriend's (Josie Harris) home after the alleged dispute and has not been seen since.
Harris, who is the Mother of three of Mayweather's children, has accused Mayweather of domestic violence in the past. Instead of sticking it all the way through, though, she chose to recant her stories and keep mum whenever police probed further.
As far back as 2003, Harris lodged a complaint about a dispute outside a Vegas nightclub. The young woman then accused Mayweather of assaulting her as the result of an argument over another woman. When the case went to trial two years later, Harris told the jury that Mayweather was in fact a "teddy bear" who could never beat her up. The jury wound up acquitting the welterweight boxer of any wrongdoing with regards to the felony domestic violence charge.
The former "Dancing with the Stars" contestant also had two previous misdemeanor domestic violence charges back in 2002, which he pled guilty to in court.
In 2005, the former Olympic bronze medal winner was convicted of using his fists in an unprovoked attack to pummel two women at a nightclub at the famed Luxor hotel in Vegas. He received a suspended one-year jail sentence and was mandated by the courts to attend counseling.
Recently, the man who Forbes magazine named "One of the Richest and Powerful Sports Athletes of 2010" became embroiled in a heated situation that has raised the ire of not only boxing fans but of folks from all walks of life. Mayweather went on a racist rant against fellow boxer Manny Pacquiao, who is Filipino. The 33-year-old boxer used expletives, racial epithets and even broke out in a song denigrating Pacquiao. He did eventually apologize to his possible future opponent.
Ironically, Mayweather's uncle and trainer, Roger Mayweather, faces a criminal trial for allegedly beating a female boxer. Guess the apple doesn't fall that far from the tree!
Mayweather is certainly walking on thin ice that is about to crack! Come out, come out, wherever you are "pretty boy!"
