Sheriff: Timbaland Did Not Attempt Suicide

According to TMZ, superstar producer Timbaland, whose real name is Timothy Zachery Mosley, was the subject of a manhunt on Tuesday, after his family believed he was in danger of pulling a Tasia and committing suicide. This news changed, though, when L.A. County Sheriff's Department spokesman Steve Whitmore told "Access Hollywood" on Wednesday that the police department was only contacted to find the unreachable star - not stop a suicide attempt.

But according to TMZ, law enforcement stated that his family was concerned that he might harm himself, after he recently expressed how troubled he was about the theft of a $2-million piece of jewelry.

Wait, a piece of jewelry? The theft of a loved one's life or the theft of one's hopes and dreams maybe, but a piece of jewelry? It's called insurance, Timbo.

After receiving the call from Timbaland's family (you can listen to the 911 call here), the L.A. County Sheriff's Department put out a "possible suicide attempt" APB just before 5 p.m. PT on Tuesday, and a helicopter and squad cars were sent out on a hunt for the producer's Escalade.

Ok, who has an Escalade anymore? Anyhoo...

So let me get this straight...valuable resources in a cash-strapped state were used to hunt down a rich music producer who was upset about his watch?

I'm sure there are real crime victims in L.A. somewhere that are none too pleased about this scenario.

Here's what TMZ is reporting:

"Timbaland was on the phone earlier in the day with his brother-in-law ... deeply upset about something. We're told one of the things that was eating at him was a theft at his Malibu residence a day before. Someone had stolen a crazy expensive Jacob & Co. watch -- valued at $2 million -- and Timbaland suspected it might have been someone he trusted."

On the 911 call the Mother-in-law says:

"We have an emergency, he's [Timbaland] by a cliff in the canyons. He drove off in a car and he sent a text that he's just tired, tired of the stress and he's been talking to my son on the phone, saying he's by a cliff on a canyon...."

As you can see, Timbaland apparently left his home yesterday in his wack Escalade, and after family members couldn't locate him, they became extremely worried and called the Sheriff's Department.

The helicopter ultimately located the Escalade, ground crews pulled Timbaland over and began talking to him. At some point, they put Timbaland in a patrol car and took him to his residence, where they continued speaking with him and family members.

After being evaluated by paramedics, though, it was determined that Timbaland was not a threat to himself and law enforcement left the scene. (Probably mumbling to themselves, "Are you f*cking kidding me?")

We're told the Sheriff's Department is investigating the theft of Timbaland's jewelry and that they have possible suspects.
Timbaland's rep could not be reached for comment, but if TMZ says it, it's probably true.

I figure one of two things happened here: either his family over-reacted and Timbaland is somewhere embarrassed by this whole thing OR he has a new reality show or album about to drop. Time will tell.
