Season one 'American Idol' runner-up Justin Guarini is gearing up for a run in the new Broadway show, 'Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown.'
The 31-year-old singer, who lost 'American Idol' to Kelly Clarkson, will play the role of Carlos in the musical adaptation of the Pedro Almodóvar comedy.
'Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown' marks Guarini's Broadway debut.
Brian Stokes Mitchell, Patti LuPone, Sherie Rene Scott and Laura Benanti also star in the musical.
The production is slated to begin in previews on Oct. 2 and open on Nov. 4 at the Belasco Theater.
The Columbus, Ga.-bred singer released his debut self-titled CD in June of 2003 on RCA Records, and released several independent compositions thereafter.
Guarini, who starred opposite Clarkson in the feature film 'From Justin to Kelly,' has worked in recent years as a host on the TV Guide Channel.
