America is heading in the wrong direction and President Obama is not helping the economy, according to a recent poll.
More than 80 percent call the economy poor or very poor and 56% disapprove of the president's handling of the economy, the AP-GfK poll finds.
Just 41% approve of Obama's work with the economy.
With the unemployment rate stuck at close to 10%, a majority of Americans (60%) say the country is going in the wrong direction, with 61% saying the economy has not improved since Obama became president.
Obama's overall approval rating remains at 49%.
However, with just 11 weeks left before midterm elections, only 43% of those asked want Democrats to keep control of Congress, with 47% choosing Republicans.
The margin of error for the poll is 4.5%.
