Hello everyone. This is KEM, and I have an incredible opportunity to connect with all of you through Blackvoices.com this month, as I've been given the opportunity to share my thoughts and experiences with you during the Budweiser Superfest tour.
See My Video Below
We've just finished up the first leg of the tour, which included Cleveland, Washington, D.C., New York, and Virginia Beach over the weekend. When we kicked off the tour in Cleveland, I was nervous and excited about getting back on the road and sharing my new music. But that first show was great, and it was the perfect way to start the tour. The band had a lot of energy and the fans were interactive.
I was overwhelmed by the crowd's response, as I always am when I'm on the road. I was able to meet and take pictures with fans, which is something we'll do after every show on the tour.
When we arrived in D.C., we had just enough time to shower and change before we headed out for a performance interview with Michel Martin, host of 'Tell Me More' on National Public Radio. I'm a big fan of the show and the station so I was really looking forward to it. The NPR event was more than I could have expected.
They invited a studio audience to watch the performance, which included four songs, with Michel asking me a few questions in between. NPR also filmed the live performance of 'Why Would You Stay' for the Website. They are editing the show now, so check out npr.org to find out when it will air and when the video will be online.
The shows in D.C., New York and Virginia Beach were fantastic, and in every city, the band and I fed off the audience's energy. Once again, we were amazed and humbled by the fans' participation, and when we can hear people singing every word of our songs out in the crowd, it's an incredible feeling. This was also the first time I was able to perform the first single, 'Why Would You Stay,' from my upcoming album, 'Intimacy,' in front of a large audience.
Every time I introduce a new song to a live audience, it's nerve-racking, but the positive response we received was overwhelming in each city. I can't express to you what a great feeling it is to be back on tour and to deliver my music directly to you. It's also been great to meet and take pictures with so many of you after each concert at my photo booth.
I'm looking forward to seeing you throughout the rest of the tour - we perform in Oakland and L.A. next week. Thanks for giving me time to share these thoughts with you, and feel free to check out the photos and videos that I'll be posting throughout the tour as well. Until next week, God bless.
