At this point, we know the deal when it comes to mainstream magazines' ubiquitous "Hollywood up-and-comers" issues: it's unlikely there will be very much diversity on the magazine's cover. Remember the controversy over Vanity Fair's "Young Hollywood" issue, which featured no actresses of color?
W magazine has done a better job with it's cover for its September "New It Girls" issue. Former 'America's Next Top Model' contestant and 'The Kids are All Right' actress YaYa DaCosta and Hollywood royalty Zoë Kravitz are both featured.

Not only are the two women up and coming entertainers, they're also stylistas -- DaCosta has her model cred and Kravitz is a mainstay at fashion week -- making them uniquely suited to cover a fashion magazine like W.
The cover also features Jennifer Lawrence, Greta Gerwig, Kat Dennings, Jessica Chastain, Emma Roberts and Mary Elizabeth Winstead.
