Ted Williams on a Road to Ruin

Outside of getting off the streets and the initial burst of celebrity, little has gone right for Mr. Golden Voice Ted Williams.

After his awkward televised reunion with his mother, Williams went on the Dr. Phil Show and had his many personal demons exposed to the world.

Then a fight with one of his daughters caused Los Angeles police officers to be called to settle him down.

But the worst news for Williams, 53, came out over this weekend when he checked himself out of the Origins Recovery Center in South Texas after only two weeks of counseling for drug and alcohol dependency.

Entering drug counseling was the only positive to come out of Williams' appearance on the Dr. Phil Show. The broadcast featured Williams' estranged children who painted an unflattering portrait of the former street beggar with the deep voice.

It didn't take a soothsayer to see that unless Williams underwent a deep personal transformation, he was likely to end up right back in the same type of trouble (homelessness, drug and alcohol abuse, street life) that has plagued most of his life.

In getting discovered by an Ohio newspaper reporter and being propelled to Internet stardom, Williams hit the lottery of sorts. Too bad that on his road to ruin, Williams seems destined to fritter it all away.
