It was a big night for the cast members of 'Glee,' at the 68th Annual Golden Globe Awards held at the Hollywood Palladium in Los Angeles, who won 'Best TV Series, Comedy or Musical.'
'Glee' cast member, Amber Riley, 24, who plays Mercedes Jones, walked the red carpet donning a gleaming gown by Los Angeles-based couturier Oliver Tolentino. The Philippine-born designer has been creating wedding dresses and red carpet gowns for stars like Kimora Lee Simmons, Niecy Nash and Paula Abdul for the past 18-years."I was approached just days before the Globes to work with Amber because she was still looking for the perfect dress. She liked many of my designs and we settled on one that would make a real statement on the red carpet," says Tolentino, who presented his spring/summer 2011 at the Third Annual Islands of the World Fashion Week held in the Bahamas.
"She wore a mermaid Venus-cut, silver sequined gown with a black satin, bugle beaded belt. I think she looked fantastic!" When you are looking to create your own cinematic moment, wearing sequin is the way to go because it will definitely get you noticed.
Riley reviled a choppy blunt bang at the award show and accessorized her gown with a ring by Charles Albert, shoes by Midas, a black feather clutch by Michelle Monroe, and earrings she made herself.
If you have a voluptuous figure like Riley, Tolentino says the pattern of the dress is key to creating a slimming effect. "I made the pattern for her gown. Amber approved the material but left the design up to me. It's very important to use heavy fabric so it falls nicely on the body."
