Sherra's home was searched by police Sunday, with the focus being on a fire pit she created in her backyard. Neighbors thought it strange that she was burning a fire that late at night. Additionally, police are suspicious about her claim that Wright left her home at 2 a.m., since there was a 911 call from his phone around midnight that sounded like he was being killed.
Coleman Garrett, an attorney for Sherra, confirmed to the New York Daily News that Wright's ex-wife would not be giving a statement to police. She also said that the former Mrs. Wright wasn't able to remember what time her husband left that night. Finally, she claims that Sherra couldn't be a suspect in his murder, since "she didn't have any motive to kill because he had no money."
"The fact is that he had huge debts and no money and actually he wasn't paying any child support and he was talking of getting a job (playing overseas) so he could pay child support," Mathes told the New York Daily News.
The story about Lorenzen Wright's murder gets stranger by the day. Even more peculiar is the claim by Wright's assistant that she has a recording of Sherra threatening to have him killed if he was with another woman. So, if there was a motive for Sherra to have done anything, I doubt it would relate to money.
The fact that Sherra Wright is refusing to talk with police is going to only add fuel to the fire. I strongly suspect there will be more developments, and over the next few days, she will either be cleared completely or even more suspicious to the world than she is right now. Sometimes, our death reveals all secrets.
