As part of Michael Vick's sentence for his dogfighting operations, he has been banned from owning dogs for life. But now Vick is hoping to have that part of the punishment reversed as part of his rehabilitation. In an interview with TheGrio.com, Vick expressed hopes that he will one day be able to have a dog as a pet again.
"I would love to get another dog in the future. I think it would be a big step for me in the rehabilitation process," Vick said. "I think just to have a pet in my household and to show people that I genuinely care, and my love and my passion for animals; I think it would be outstanding. If I ever have the opportunity again I will never take it for granted. I miss having a dog right now. I wish I could. My daughters miss having one, and that's the hardest thing: telling them that we can't have one because of my actions."
Vick is having a career year as quarterback for the Philadelphia Eagles, currently at top of the NFC East and looking toward a deep playoff run. But even though a lot of fans have forgiven Vick for his bad deeds, there are still a lot of people who harbor hate toward him, believing there is no chance for redemption.
