Rapper and former 2 Live Crew front man Luke Campbell has traded his lascivious image for a more sedate one as an assistant football coach for Miami Central high school.

Campbell, a 50-year-old raunchy rap legend whose sexually explicit lyrics stirred up not only controversy but legal embroilments, has brought his lifestyle down several notches over the years, which was apparent on his now-defunct VH1 reality show 'Luke's Parental Advisory.'

Campbell, now a doting dad of five and married to lawyer Kristin Thompson, has decided to coach young boys on and off the playing field and has happily kicked his entertainment persona to the curb -- for now.

He told the Bellingham Herald:

"I'm happy and proud of what we accomplished, but that part of my life is over."

As an assistant coach, Campbell has a credo that he follows: "teamwork, education and maintaining a positive attitude."

"I don't tolerate cursing or the N-word," Campbell says. "I tell them, 'Don't ever disrespect a girl because that makes you less than a man.' And, 'Pick the girl who is responsible, not the one with Fs on her report card. Easy to get in, hard to get out.' I've lived that life."

Campbell, whose colorful past didn't seem to prevent him from nailing his current post, was cleared by the Miami-Dade Public School system to coach the team after countless letters poured in that spoke volumes about his character by folks from all walks of life.

According to C.J. Gaines, an 18-year-old wide receiver for the Rockets, the high school's football team, the kids welcomed Campbell wholeheartedly and look up to him, "I don't see him as a rapper," Gaines said. "I see him as a father."
