From the moment Jessica Reedy walked into my preliminary judging room for 'Sunday Best' at the BET Studios in Washington, DC, I knew she had star power! Now it's my pleasure to be the first to announce that the Saginaw, Michigan-bred singer just inked a lucrative record deal with Light Records/E1 Entertainment for her debut solo release.
"To be finally signing my very first recording contract is way beyond a dream come true," she told BlackVoices.com exclusively. "What has happened is a gift from God. I have found a great home to mature my talents and showcase my gifts."
The 22-year-old vocalist was the runner-up on season two of BET's 'Sunday Best.' Though Reedy did not win the gospel music competition series - singer Y'Anna Crawley did - she still feels victorious because she hasn't stopped working since her season aired.
"The greatest lesson I've learned is that God will take a stained nobody like me and allow my gift to make room for me," she shared. "He has given me a platform to stand before great men and women and share my gift. For God to pick someone who's still learning, still making mistakes, so imperfect and give me a platform before millions all over the world, it's just an example of how great His unconditional love is! I've learned how to truly appreciate God's love."
Since appearing on the 2009 season of 'Sunday Best,' Reedy participated in a Celebrity Health Forum presented by BET's Rap-It-Up campaign and Mary J. Blige's FFAWN Foundation. She also brought down the house with a show-stopping performance at Sheryl Lee Ralph's Divas Simply Singing Benefit in Beverly Hills.
Musically, the statuesque singer is featured on the song 'Troubled World' alongside Faith Evans and Kelly Price for Evans' newly released CD, 'Something About Faith.' She also recorded a tune called 'Praise in the House' for the soundtrack of the Deitrick Haddon movie, 'Blessed and Cursed.'
Even with her high-profile gigs and a full schedule of church concert dates, Reedy confessed that she is most excited about getting into the studio to finish recording her first CD so that she can share her message of God's love through music.
"I want my music to convey the message that God has told me to share: 'When no one else sees you, when every one is gone, when love isn't evident in those you put your trust in, God is there!' God sees, He knows, and He's not going to leave you like they did! He loves you no matter what! God has many forms of love for you," she expressed.
Reedy is represented by Ten 2 One Entertainment, an entertainment management firm and TV/film producing company that works with talent ranging from Tristan Wilds ('90210') to R&B group Project 718, and has produced reality series like TV One's 'Lisa Raye: The Real McCoy' and the forthcoming Faith Evans' show for BET.
"He's put me with people who won't bruise, harm or taint what God has given me; but instead will nurture, increase and help to oversee it," she raved about her management. "I feel secure in knowing I'm with the right people and with the right team!"
Reedy will release a live version of 'God Has Smiled On Me' to radio in November and will also service a new single to radio in January.
Her debut CD will hit stores during the second quarter of 2011.
