Lawyers are in negotiations to get a six-month jail stint for rapper T.I. after a drug bust that occurred back in September. The A-lister is reportedly ready to do the time on the condition that his wife, the mother of his kids and partner in the drug bust, Tameka "Tiny" Cottle, gets off scot-free.

The hip-hop superstar, whose real name is Clifford Harris, and Tiny were arrested on the eve of Sept. 1, when police stopped them for making an illegal U-turn in West Hollywood, Calif. When officers approached their $400,000-plus Maybach, they immediately smelled marijuana wafting from the vehicle. The high-profile couple was arrested and slapped with federal drug-possession charges.
According to Mediatakeout, an insider revealed:
"T.I. wants to be certain that she [Tameka] will remain free to raise their children. That's his No. 1 priority over his career and even over his freedom."
T.I. married his longtime reality star lady love last July. Everyone was certain that the wedding was a sweet ending to a rather tumultuous year. T.I. was serving a prison term for federal weapons charges and was released last December, after seven months. He was then placed in a halfway house for three months. The "King of the South" was given a strict supervised three-year probation when he and his wife were recently arrested.
Interestingly enough, when T.I. was arrested for the weapons charges, he vowed at the time of his plea deal that he had learned from his mistakes:
"Most important thing to me is that I can turn this negative time in my life right now into a positive. While I'm not looking forward to being incarcerated, I am looking forward to putting this behind me. I realize I have a long road of redemption to travel," said the Grammy Award-winning rapper.
At a July press conference, the co-star of the recent box office hit 'Takers' sat down with a reporter from the Associated Press and discussed how he was focused and determined to live a more positive life:
"Right now, it's all about moving forward and just acknowledging the blessings that are here today. ... Just moving past the regrets of yesterday -- the things that could've been done better," he affirmed.
Now T.I. is faced with yet another legal embroilment, but at least he's trying to do the honorable thing by taking the fall. After all, someone has to remain at home to care for the couple's two sons and daughter.
