After making a cameo appearance in 'Why Did I Get Married Too?,' Dwayne Johnson will have a bigger role in his next collaboration with Tyler Perry as the two are looking to work together in the comedy film, 'Take My Wife.'
Deadline.com reports that Perry will play a recently divorced man who realizes the only way to get out of paying alimony to his ex is to find her a new husband. He sets about transforming a rough-around-the-edges guy (played by Johnson) into a paramour who can be her ideal mate. After his Cyrano act creates the new love match, the divorced guy falls back in love with his wife and has to compete for her affections.
While the film has yet to be purchased, Liongate may have the edge on other studio bidders since Perry will produce through his 34th Street banner with Matt Moore and Ozzie Areu. All of Perry's films have been released through Lionsgate.
Johnson and producing partner Dany Garcia are executive producers along with Chris Cowles and Chris Fenton.
Perry's next directorial film, 'For Colored Girls,' opend on Nov.5, while Johnson's film, 'Faster,' which is directed by George Tillman Jr., opens on Nov.24.
