Rapper Lil Wayne has been moved into what Rikers Island officials refer to as "punitive segregation," New York Department of Corrections Spokesman, Stephen Morello confirmed to CNN. The artist began the prison stint back in March because of a gun possession charge.

The reprimand was handed down because of music-related contraband; it turns out that Wayne was caught with an MP3 charger and headsets during a search of his cell a few months ago. (Another inmate was caught actually holding the MP3 player.)

Lil Wayne, who was relocated to the isolated cell on Monday, is expected to spend 30 days there, which means he won't have contact with or circulate among the rest of the prison population. It also means that he'll spend 23 out of 24 hours inside the cell, with an hour of guard-supervised recreation.

The 28-year-old is expected to be released from prison around November 3.
