The fifth annual 'BET Hip-Hop Awards '10' was taped Oct.2 at the Boisfeuillet Jones Atlanta Civic Center in Atlanta. Hosted by comedian Mike Epps, for the second time, the event saluted what the network deems the best of the best in hip hop culture.
An array of rap music notables came out for the festivities, which included a Diddy-led opening inspired by MC Hammer, father and son pairings of Ice Cube and his two boys rhyming with Reverend Run and Diggy and Jojo Simmons, and a special award to iconic hip-hop trio Salt N' Pepa.
Jay-Z and Nicki Minaj were the big winners of the evening, garnering three trophies each. Miami rap kingpin Rick Ross also scored two awards. Other highlights of the night included a reunion of The Diplomats clique, and Digital Underground's tribute to 2Pac.
The 2010 BET Hip-Hop Awards is scheduled to air Oct. 12 at 8 p.m. on BET.
