How did your visits to places like Istanbul and Morocco inspire your designs?
It's hard not to be inspired by them. There's such a rich history to these countries, in fact all of the places that I was fortunate to travel to while I was a model. I like to tell people that while my colleagues were out clubbing I was in the markets and bazaars exploring. This is my way of recreating those experiences and bringing them to a broader audience.
What fabrics do you like to mix and match in your line?
I designed the fabrics to work together so you really can't go wrong with mixing any of them. But if you're a bit conservative you might want to stick with one pattern like Punjab Peacock or Java Moon and mixing it with a neutral fabric like Mustique. It really depends on how adventurous you want to be.
Any plans to redecorate your own home?
With a new home line I think that redecorating is a given. I love all of the patterns, so it's going to be hard for me to choose. I think it will end up depending on my mood at the time. Of course my family will have an opinion, but I usually have the final say.
When decorating, what are some things to keep in mind?
Be unafraid. There's no wrong or right in decorating. Buy pieces that you love and use colors and patterns that make you happy. If you don't like something you can always start over. Decorating isn't something that is stagnant.
