'Oprah's Lifeclass': Have a Dream For Yourself

'Oprah's Lifeclass': Have a Dream For Yourself

Oprah says, "I always say God can dream a bigger dream for you than you can dream for yourself", this is the lesson that Oprah wants to impart. "Have the dream and then surrender it to that which is greater than yourself and allow the flow of your life to move in the direction of your greatest advantage.

Oprah's lifeclass is a little difficult to watch, initially. Those of us TV junkies are not used to being directly "preached to". Although I am certain Oprah would not classify herself as a preacher but rather a teacher. She would be correct, however, there are odd similarities to shows that have once aired on The Christian Broadcast Network or TBN. Once one gets beyond the way the show is presented it becomes a very fascinating show. Oprah obviously has something she feels is important to impart to all of us based on her decades of gathering information through her interviews. Lifeclass is certainly the right choice of phrasing. If one can sit through the entire "class" one will learn tools for living a more fulfilling life. Like everything in life, listening is not enough; one must put into practice what one learns.

'Sweetie Pie's': The Big Surprise

Miss Robbie is the proprietor of Sweetie Pie's restaurant and she is a 71 year-old control freak. Miss Robbie runs the shop with an iron fist and she has her hand in on every aspect of the business. Her business partner is her son, Tim and they run both locations in St. Louis as well as trying to open a third location. Miss Robbie decides to take a week off to plan her own mega birthday party. Miss Robbie knows how to party big, from her days as one of the original "Ikette's" of the Ike and Tina Turner Revue. Everyone in town knows Miss Robbie and several hundred people show up to her parties. This party is going to be special because Miss Robbie is reuniting with several of the former "Ikettes". She has no idea about the surprise her son has in wait for her birthday party. While Miss Robbie took to the stage with her guests to sing from the Ike Turner revue, Tim slipped on stage in a Tina Turner wig and platform shoes. Tim wanted to dress like Tina Turner and run on stage but his rather large frame made it impossible to find a Tina Turner outfit. Tim had to settle for a bridge between Tina and Ike in one.

'The Wendy Williams Show': Wendy Goes Off on Angelina Jolie

Wendy decides to address the negative postings on Facebook about her being two-faced concerning Kelsey Grammer. People have written that Wendy used to be angry with Kelsey over his messy divorce with Camille, especially since Kelsey brought his girlfriend to Wendy's show before he was divorced. Worst yet, Camille didn't know at the time that Kelsey had another woman. Wendy brought the news on her show. She then went on to say later that she had enough of Kelsey. Wendy has apparently changed her mind about not liking Kelsey because she has been plugging his new show, Boss, on Starz. The critics went on to say that if you can forgive Kelsey why don't you forgive Angelina Jolie for allegedly breaking up Brad and Jennifer. Wendy went off about this. Wendy started a tirade, saying that she never liked Angelina even before the Brad Pitt thing. Yes Wendy thought that Angelina was a "viper devil, even before she...got involved..." Wendy stressed that she is a fan of celebrities just like her viewers but she just has a talk show and tells her likes to millions of people. Wendy "played" the "I'm just a girl from Jersey" card. The audience cheered Wendy on.

'The Talk': Steve Harvey Cracks Them Up

Steve Harvey sat at the table with the ladies of "The Talk" to plug his latest book, "Act Like a Lady, Think Like a Man" the relationship advice book. The ladies, however, could not stop talking about his latest show, "The Family Feud". Since Steve Harvey joined The Family Feud, the ratings have soared. He has restored it as a comedy game show hit. Steve brought his brand of no nonsense street humor to the show. They played a clip but the funniest moment was Steve relaying the story of a Black family that came on the show. A "country" Black family from Mississippi, came on the show and the question was, "Name something that you would like to be hypnotized for, to stop doing?" The answer the woman gave was, "Spitting". Everyone laughed. Julie put her head down and the audience joined in cracking up. Steve commented further saying, "That almost set us back as a people, 200 years". Steve Harvey had a good time.

'Oprah's Lifeclass': Everybody Has a Calling

Oprah says, "Every single person who is born has a purpose." Oprah address what to do when you are stuck in a job that is not your life's dream. How do you handle working at something that you don't like doing? Oprah uses examples or clips from her show, including a clip of Lady Gaga talking about her struggle to grow into the person she knew she was. It seems that some of us know who we are destined to be we just need to walk into the circumstance that allows us to be that person. Oprah talked about how she had a couple of jobs in the journalism field and she knew they were not the correct fit for her but she had to stay until the right thing came along. This lesson speaks to those of us who are working toward becoming that whole person.

'The Amazing Race': Black Family Wins One

Marcus and Amani Pollard are a married couple from Pine Mountain, Georgia. Marcus is a retired professional football player and coach. The episode was named after a line that Amani uttered during the show. The teams were in Thailand and one of the modes of transport was an elephant. Amani and Marcus were sitting on top of the elephant as it took them to their destination. Amani said, "I feel like I'm in the circus" and thus the title was born.

This race had our contestants riding an elephant then searching a waterfall below a flutist. They went a temple to collect a smaller version of that temple. The contestants had to disassemble that temple and reassemble said temple at another location. Through it all Marcus kept his humor up and the race going. When it was announced Marcus and Amani came in first place (in this leg) they screamed. Their close friends were in second place. The Pollards won an exotic trip for two.

'The Sing-Off': Afro Blue Kills It Softly

Afro Blue is known as a jazz style-singing group, so imagine their horror when they found out it was Hip Hop week. Afro Blue lucked out with the song choice, The Fugees version of Robert Flack's Killing Me Softly. Afro Blue 'killed it' using their own special blend of both versions with a Hip Hop twist. Afro Blue was in the bottom 2 last week but what a difference a week makes. This week, Afro Blue killed it. The judges loved them. Sara Bareilles had the most praise for them. Sara started off by declaring to everyone, 'I love this show'. She went on to say, 'that was such a flawless arrangement and performance of an amazing song and you did it justice'.

Afro Blue was among the first 2 groups safe for next week.

'Love That Girl': The Thriller Dance

Love That Girl aired its Halloween show. Bresha Webb, Imunique shows off her version of the Michael Jackson,Thriller dance she performed last Halloween. The storyline has Alphonso McAuley's character trying to tell a scary Halloween story. Each character interrupts with their own Halloween story. Imunique tells them about the time she performed the 'thriller dance' for Halloween. We transport back to the scene as a sexy cheerleader, Imunique and her 2 gal pals hit the stage and rock out to the beat of 'Thriller'. The production obviously didn't want to pay for the actual track so she is dancing to what seems like a sound a like track. 'Love That Girl' is a funny sitcom in the vein of 'Martin' and other black sitcoms. Tatyana Ali 'Fresh Prince of Bel Air' is the main lead for which the series was created. There are several big players behind this show including, Martin Lawrence, and Raphael Sadiqq.

The T.O. Show': The Surprise Proposal

Terrell takes his staff of ladies and their significant others on a cruise but the surprise is for Kita. When Terrell decided to surprise the ladies with a trip on a cruise ship he knew full well that Kita hates boats. It seems that Terrell does several things just to get under Kita's skin, playfully. This time Terrell also invites Joe, Kita's latest flame. Kita and Joe have been on and off recently. Kita just allowed Joe back into her life after Joe 'forgot' to tell her he was still married. Joe and his wife separated years ago but the divorce wasn't final when he started messing with Kita. If Joe had been honest about his situation a great deal of drama would have been avoided. Now Joe is securely back in Kita's life and on the cruise with his girl. It is also Kita's birthday and everyone showers her with gifts at dinner. Terrell gives her a gag gift and she playfully hits him. Next, Joe gets on one knee, which prompts Terrell to say he'll fall out if Joe proposes. Terrell has no idea how close he is to being correct. Joe first gives Kita a beautiful shoe. Then he pulls out a box. The camera picks up the label on the box. Kita starts to breakdown. Terrell falls out his chair when the large rock is revealed. Joe proposes. Later, a stunned Terrell seems to be drinking uncontrollably. Mo, even confronts him about it. She realizes that Terrell is saddened by the unexpected turn of events. Is it possible that Terrell has had a crush on Kita all this time? Is it possible that all the playful jostling they have been engaged in was a prelude to dating? If so, Terrell may have missed his chance now that Joe has proposed. Terrell laments to the camera that all his girls are leaving him.

La La's Full Court Life': Eating Raw Conk

La La took her gal pals, Po, Dice, and Kelly Rowland to the island of Turks and Barbados. They decided to imbibe in the local delicacy of Conk penis. Their guide explained that the raw drink is an aphrodisiac but that didn't sit well with La La. The conk's organ is a very thin, long strand and it is dipped into a shot glass with some unknown red liquor and consumed in one gulp. The show started off innocently enough, with La La trying to cheer up Dice by having her choose a hand-written prize from La La. Dice was shocked when the prize turned out to be a vacation to Turks & Barbados. La La later confessed to the camera that she was already planning to take all the ladies on a trip to get away from the living chaos of the NYC. Besides the Conk shots, the ladies had a great time. They went swimming and sunbathing. It was a welcome respite for La La and the ladies.

'The X Factor': Melanie Amaro Sings Whitney Houston

Melanie Amaro was a last minute addition to Simon Cowell's lineup, putting him 1 contest over the 4-contestant maximum. Simon made a great choice in Melanie because she brought the house down with the Whitney Houston song, I Have Nothing. All the judges had to choose 1 contestant to send home except for Simon who had to send 2 girls home. Simon insisted that he had not made up his mind until that last moment about whom should go home. Simon kept Drew, Rachel Crow and in a surprise move, as characterized by Simon himself, Melanie Amaro is safe to move on to the audience voting stage.

'The Wendy Williams Show': Basketball Wives Gloria Breakup

According to Wendy Williams, Gloria Govan and LA Lakers forward Matt Barnes are officially splitsville. Gloria was hated on while she was on the Miami version of Basketball Wives, even Shaunie doesn't like her. The funnies bit was when Wendy said, Gloria always had a better than people attitude, she acted light-skinned. Wendy then went on to explain to the non-Black crowd what she meant by the phrase. Most Black people know what that means to consider yourself better when you are a light-skinned Black person. Wendy took the history lesson all the way back to the cotton fields of slavery, yes she did, explaining that the light-skinned slaves were in the house mocking the dark-skin slaves who had to work in the fields.

'The Tonight Show w Jay Leno' : President Obama Talks Roscoe Chicken and Waffles

President Barack Obama was in Los Angeles and stopped by the set of The Tonight Show. Jay mentioned that he heard the President went to the famous Roscoe's Chicken & Waffles. Jay joked that Michelle Obama, the fitness guru of the family, had to be rather disappointed in his culinary choice. The POTUS responded by saying it all started rather innocently as a way to meet and greet people. Once inside, the President ordered the 'Country Boy', which consist of chicken wings, waffles with syrup and hot sauce on the side. When the President said the Presidential limo smelled like fried chicken, it elicited a huge applause from the audience. The President wasn't alone; Will and Jada Smith accompanied him. Roscoe's was a pitstop on the way to another function. He President had to dine on the local delights in the limo. He said he had his sleeves rolled up and even got a stain on his tie from the juicy chicken.

'106 & Park': Eddie Murphy Talks Beverly Hills Cop TV Show

Eddie Murphy appeared to plug his new movie, Tower Heist. Terrence asked Eddie about a Beverly Hills Cop Sequel rumor he read about on the internet. Terrence 'read' that Eddie wanted to turn the original movie into a TV show and not do the movie. Eddie was confused and said he didn't remember it quite like that. When Terrence said he read it on the internet, Eddie said 'well it must be true', joking with the host. Eddie cleared up the mess when he talked about trying to get a Beverly Hills Cop 4 off the ground. Eddie mentioned they tried for years to make it happen. Eddie has abandoned a Beverly Hills Cop 4 sequel idea to pursue making it a TV series instead, that he would Executive Produce with a younger Axel Foley. Eddie said his choice for Axel Foley would either be 'Kevin Hart' or 'Brandon T. Jackson'. Eddie let out that Kevin Hart will be quite surprised to know that Eddie has been considering him for the TV role of a young Axel Foley since Eddie has not made that common knowledge.

'Chelsea Lately': Rapper TI Jokes with Chelsea

Chelsea jokingly told T.I. not to use her last name, Lately, in vain. T.I. retorted, that he thought Chelsea's last name was 'Cent' as in 50 Cent. Chelsea and T.I. have a good rapport but she was shocked when he put that spin on her joke. Chelsea then said that 50 Cent's last name was Lately but they had to change that. The two joked all night, TI said it seems like every time I leave here I go to prison. Chelsea said, yeah, that's weird. Yet TI keeps going back to the show. Chelsea tried to get TI to talk about his prison time but he was rather coy about all that, maybe he wanted to stay out of trouble. She did get TI to talk about the time he saved a guy from jumping off a building and committing suicide, in the ATL. TI was rather demure and understated with that story as well. The two obviously have a history which made for a fun and entertaining interview.
