'FIVE': Alicia Keys Directs

"FIVE" is an anthology of five short films that all cover the topic of breast cancer. The directors are all stars in their own right. Alicia Keys directed the short, titled "Lili", that starred veterans Jenifer Lewis, Rosario Dawson, and Tracee Ellis Ross. Lili, Rosario Dawson, is a young professional in a dysfunctional relationship with her mother, Jenifer. The twist is that Lili has the cancer and not her mother. When Lili's mother and sister insist on being her support for the surgery all the fiery drama of the past comes out. The piece breaks away from the typical clichés by having a male patient, Jeffrey Tambor, at the breast clinic waiting for surgery as well. Moreover, we realize that Lili had to raise herself for two years while her mother sank into depression when their father left. At last, it's proven that even the most harden hearts can soften when faced with mortality. Lili knows in the beginning the surgery is not life threatening yet it is enough for her to seek the love and embrace of family.

'Reed Between The Lines': Sexy Robin Givens

The new BET comedy "Reed Between the Lines" is being compared to "The Cosby Show". Malcolm Jamal Warner, is cast as Alex Reed, a college English professor blissfully married to Carla (Tracee Ellis Ross), a successful psychologist and mother of three. Malcolm said in an interview the Cosby Show was a huge inspiration for the series. They didn't want to try to recreate that show but they did want the stable Black family to be showcased. Give credit to BET for making an effort.
In this episode the very sexy Robin Givens adds comic timing and good acting to the show. She plays a sex crazed adult mother (MILF) that seeks professional help from Carla. Robin's character slides her way into Carla's personal life when she meets and comes on to Alex Reed, or so Carla imagines.

Wanda Sykes made an appearance on the Rosie Show. Wanda was physically a different person. Wanda last year went in for breast reduction surgery and the doctors found cancer cells. She was diagnosed with Stage 0 breast cancer and choosing to undergo a double mastectomy. Now Wanda calls her smaller boobs, "starter boobs" they have their drawbacks. Wanda said it is now more difficult to get served at bars. Before the surgery Wanda joked that she would plop her bountiful breasts on the bar and the bartenders would come running over to serve her. Things are different now.

'The Wendy Williams Show': Fantasia Baby Rumors

Yesterday Wendy Williams reported that the producers of the Mahalia Jackson movie were angry with Fantasia for getting pregnant and ruining the shoot. Today Fantasia called into the show to set the record straight. Fantasia wasted no time in telling Wendy that she wanted to clear her name in the fiasco. First Fantasia said she met with the producers in 2010 and there was never an agreement signed between her and them. As a matter of fact the Producers said there main financial backer pulled out and they were looking for more money. Fantasia continued to believe that the film would happen and continued to gain weight and study the life of Mahalia Jackson. Eventually, Fantasia did get pregnant but there was still no contract no a start date for the film.

Wendy sensing that time would slip away without getting to the meaty part, asked Fantasia if she was still with the married? Single? Unknown status of Antwaun Cook. Fantasia said she only wanted to talk about the movie and clear up her name. She then went on to babble about some problem with "The Color Purple" and missing dates when Wendy interrupted again. Wendy asked if she was still with Antwaun Cook and Fantasia froze. She didn't know how to answer that. Then Fantasia promised to come on the show after the baby was born to explain everything. We know that Wendy will keep her to that promise.

'Washington Post GOP Debate': Herman Cain Blasts Back at Ron Paul

Bloomberg Television and The Washington Post, in partnership with WBIN-TV and host Dartmouth College, hosted the 2012 campaign that was to focus on the economy, debt, deficits, taxes, trade and jobs.

Ron Paul (Rep.) Texas, went after Herman Cain. "Mr. Cain, in the past you have been rather critical of any of us who would want to audit the Fed. You have said ... that we were ignorant and that we didn't know what we are doing, and When Ron Paul finished Herman Cain was ready for him. Cain retorted with, "You have misquoted me". "I did not call any of your people ignorant. I don't know where that came from," he said. Then a riled up Herman Cain admonished the gray haired representative. "You've gotta be careful of the stuff you get off the Internet" Cain said.
Ron Paul went after him because Paul's supporters want to get rid of the Federal Reserve altogether. Herman Cain was a former chairman of the board of directors of the Kansas City Federal Reserve, the enemy. Cain did not lose an opportunity to plug his main plan, and his "top priority - 9-9-9."

'The BET Hip Hop Awards': LL Cool J Political Speech

LL Cool J was awarded Hip Hop Icon Award. LL Cool J is "the Truth'period' " said Mary J. LL Cool J said, "as I was coming here I wrote something down that just popped in my head". He proceeded to read from his mobile a speech as deft as any of his raps or rhymes. Here are a few gems. "My acceptance speech, what I wont do is try to preach, what I wont do is assume that I am smarter than you and try to teach, what I will do is set an example and inspire you to reach for the stars beyond Mars that the space bars can't delete. Because without a dream fulfilled your life's incomplete like a Hearst a limousine without a backseat." He touched on politics and being the best. After the speech it was easier to understand why he was anointed with the Icon trophy the man was a triple threat.

'The Gayle King Show': Gayle Tells Embarrassing Oprah Story

Gayle King, Oprah BFF is back on the air with her rather dry but casually informative style. Writer Kate Bolick talks about her book addressing how traditional marriage is out of style. Women are not only getting married later in life, many women are not getting married at all. The median age for women getting married the first time continues to rise. There are also a group of women who have found ways to be complete and total not marrying until they are past childbearing age. Gayle tells the story of when she called Oprah to tell her about a 51 year-old woman who was not yet married and have no children. Oprah's response was "silence". Then Gayle realized she just described Oprah.

Damon Wayans Jr. plays Brad who is married to the Caucasian Jane played by Eliza Coupe. The Brad role is more than just an accent character in this ensemble sitcom. The writing is witty when it is on and today it was on. Brad and Jane have sought marriage counseling in the form of improv classes. They practice improv everywhere and anytime no matter how appropriate. Damon is a great actor milking every scene for the laughs. The writers give him a chance to put it all out there.

'ANTM': LaToya Jackson Does Michael Proud

LaToya Jackson arrived on the set of the shoot to inspire the models. Theme of the shoot was all about Michael Jackson's famous fashion looks. Each model dressed in an outfit that Michael Jackson made famous either in a music video or album. Fashion wasn't the only drama going on at the shoot. Bianca, the 6ft. tall black vixen was feuding with the "Christian" girl and the man-ish looking Lisa. Bre had the best look. Bianca was fierce in her own right. Bianca and her pretty sister, Bre killed the fashion shoot with their poses, even if they didn't win in the eyes of the judges. Although neither girl won, neither of them ended up in the bottom three either.

The Early Show': Money Over Morals

Stars and big celebrities are often invited to worldwide events. Many of these stars are paid to attend or perform. In the 80's celebrities became known for their social consciousness avoiding performing at places like Sun City. These days it is more about Billionaire dictators and their families. Hilary Swank shoed up at a private affair sponsored by Russian Chechen leader with a long list of human rights violations. In 2010 both Beyonce and Usher performed at a party hosted by the son of ousted leader, Muammar Gaddafi, at a Caribbean island. Mariah Carey was paid over a million dollars to perform with the same person a year earlier. Is this all a case of Money over Morals? Most of the celebrities claim ignorance about the party hosts allowing them detach themselves from the harsh realities about their criminal hosts. In this internet/google world it is difficult to believe that a person can be ignorant about any billionaire or dictator.

  • 'The Wendy Williams Show': Beyonce Not Really Pregnant

Wendy reports on the rumors that Beyonce is not really pregnant. Apparently during an interview in Australia, when Beyonce went to sit-down her baby bump no longer looked like a bump. Her bump responded more like a soft pillow. Wendy shows the video and critiques it. Wendy offers up several of the internet "explanations" aka conspiracy theories. Some say Beyonce has plans to adopt and wants to give the appearance of being pregnant to throw everyone off. Another conspiracy theory says that Beyonce is faking her pregnancy to revive her slumping career and sales. One conspiracy says it's the couple's way of keeping JayZ's alleged mistress away from them. Beyonce has denied all rumors of her pregnancy being fake. There are even more conspiracy theories out there, I guess we'll have to wait.

Anthony Mackie's career has really blown up recently. He received a lot of acclaim in The Hurt Locker and now, his new movie is number one at the box office. Real Steel is the name of his new movie with Hugh Jackman. Gayle and Anthony got into a funny convo when Gayle mentioned she bought tickets but did not see his new movie because it was an action flix. Gayle saw the George Clooney, Ryan Gosling film instead. Anthony is currently shooting a movie with Ryan and joked how he offered to gig some box office numbers to Ryan's film since it was bested by Real Steel. Gayle is a big fan of Anthony Mackie and introduced us to his love for Shakespeare and the written word. Mackie fell in love with words in high school. Later Mackie talked about the important sage advice Morgan Freeman gave him on set one time. Watch the clip.

'Late Night w Jimmy Fallon': Cedric Talks Soul Train

Cedric, The Entertainer is hosting this year's Soul Train Awards on Centric TV. Cedric had a very funny take on Don Cornelius and his interview manners. The funniest bit was about how Soul Train, the tv show, would plug in a spelling Bee type of scramble board in the middle of a dance show. Most of the time the groups would be easy to guess but occasionally the couple would be saddled with a difficult named band.

'106&Park': David Banner Says "Support Black People"

Rocsi called David Banner the new rap consciousness after Common. David Banner could not help himself from preaching the gospel of Black people not supporting Black people enough. His most telling statement was go to Itunes and you will not see any Black people on the page except for Lil' Wayne and Drake. It's true. He said having millions of Youtube hits doesn't translate into dollars, so if you don't want Black music to go away you have to pay for it. David Banner was preaching it. He is exactly right; the powers that be are all about the money.

'The X Factor': Rihanna Guest Judge

Thursday's XFactor had celebrity judges to accompany the regular judges on the show. Oddly the only person without a celebrity judge was Simon Cowell. Mariah Carey was scheduled to be his celeb scowler but her plane was delayed due to a hurricane. LA Reid had Rihanna, Rhi Rhi, sitting on the couch at his Hampton digs. The young, too hip for school, Brian Bradley, aka, The Astronomical Kid, aka Astro (for short) blasted the scene off with his special rendition of GrandMaster Flash's "The Message". Brian changed up "The Message" to be modern days take on bullies at school. He brought the track home with a reliability that will ring true on the streets to young kids and push lots of greenbacks around. Brian didn't seem nervous and looked totally casual when he stepped in front of Rhi Rhi to perform. LA had his signature head bob action while Rhi Rhi let out a smile or two. At end Astro thanked them and they thanked him. The judges seemed blown away. Rhi Rhi couldn't stop smiling and saying how cute she thought Brian was. Later Rhi Rhi said he reminds her of a young J Cole.

'The Wendy Williams Show': Crazy Whitney Houston Story

Wendy loves a "Crazy Whitney Houston story" she tells us right before she tells it all. The audience apparently loves a Whitney story as well if the applause are any indication. We all know that Whitney has had plenty of self-created problems. She denied for years using drugs yet her physical appearance deteriorated before our eyes. Her face started looking gaunt while she packed on a few pounds around her midsection. Then later it became obvious by her speech patterns that she had a tremendous amount of dental work done. Her erratic behavior captured on Bobby Brown's reality show gave us all a glimpse into some scary behavior. This story is about Whitney flying recently and nearly being escorted off the plane for not fastening her seat belt. According to the story the flight attendants asked Miss Houston several times to fasten up but they were ignored. Fortunately, level headedness prevailed and the attendants decided to take measures into their own hands and fasten her belt for her. That is far better than calling the authorities and arresting people, besides doing it that way probably didn't delay take off.

'Saturday Night Live': Drake Kisses Nicki Minaj

Drake held his own on 'SNL' this weekend past. Drake was itching to get into a few skits. He did stretch his acting chops in two skits. Drake has a good sense of comedic timing as well. The best part of Drake's appearance was his performance. Drake brought out Nicki Minaj for his second performance, of "Make Me Proud". Nicki laid it down like only she can, spitting rhymes fast, hard, and sexy. Drake backed her up on during that. The big surprise and spontaneous moment came when Drake announced to the band "we going to do this one more time" then he freestyled. Drake turned to Nicki and said to the beat of "Make Me Proud", "I'm so glad you wore this outfit tonight, you look amazing I swear you do", and followed that up with a hug and a kiss.

'Visionaries: Inside The Creative Mind': Tyler Perry on Tyler Perry

This new hour-long documentary series on OWN, is intended to interview some of the most creative minds now living. OWN wants to focus on iconic innovators and show the audience what it takes to achieve that status. I think maybe the aim is either to inspire or educate, or maybe both. The first show focused on friend to Oprah, Tyler Perry. Everyone knows that Tyler is the new Black Hollywood. He owns his own studio; he owns movie franchises and TV series. Tyler have no gatekeeper he makes what he chooses to make and that is a luxury few, Black or White can boast about.

Tyler elucidated on why he is successful. "I have a clear vision, I have established this brand, I have established an audience. I am very aware of what they want to see and how they want to see it, and I can deliver the content."
Tyler was very open about some of the things that keep him working so hard. Tyler used work to help him cope with the death of his mother. He kept himself busy. Tyler performed "Madea's Big Happy Family" written in homage to his mother, 125 times in 126 days. Tyler overcame his grief by the end of the run of his play.

VH1 has it's own brand of matchmakers, and they are Steve and JoAnn Ward. They run a matchmaking service but for VH1 they put on a "Crash Course in Love". They go from city to city helping challenged ladies break through the barriers that keep them from choosing the correct mate for them. It has a rather typical VH1 format style, like "Tool Academy" there are challenges that are supposed to improve the person in some manner. This show is not about kicking people off but rather helping to change people's habits. In this episode the big challenge is for the ladies to learn how to flirt. They are first paired with people who can't speak English. The ladies have to try to communicate through a couple of preset activities. Once the ladies have their feet wet with this challenge, oh BTW, their partners did know English and they rated the ladies performance. On to the big moment, Chasity Soules, the walking contradiction in terms, wants to meet with one of the guys she's been crushing on. Al is the name of the man that she felt a connection with during one of the tasks earlier. Al also likes her, so what is the problem? Chasity, the nice southern girl, is a Las Vegas, Go-Go dancer. Al says there is no way that he could take a girl with that profession home to meet mom. Chasity listens as Al tells her the dancing is the reason they can't date. Steve challenges her to decide at that moment which is more important, reminding her that good men don't fall out of trees. Chasity decides to quit Go-Go dancing in favor of dating Al.

Martin Luther King III was in Washington D.C. for the service to dedicate the first National monument in D.C. of a private citizen. MLK III was ten years-old when his father was killed, so his memory of his father is different that most people whose lives where effected by his father. MLK III says he remembers MLK Jr. as dad. Through the years he of course learned the importance of his father to the world. That understanding of MLK Jr. is what the organizers wanted to communicate, that MLK Jr. was not just a civil rights leader, but a human rights leader. The life story of MLK Jr. is one for all the people perennially.
